Sažetak
The Veternica Cave is located at the SW part of Medvednica Mt. (NW Croatia), an isolated karst area common in low mountains of Pannonian basin in Croatia. The cave is part of the fluviokarst system developed mostly in Triassic and Neogene carbonate beds (limestones, dolomites, breccias and conglomerates) that consists of small karst polje Ponikve, net of dolines, dry and blind valleys, subterranean streams, few small caves and Veternica as the largest feature. Veternica is 7128 m long and it is one of longest and most complex caves of Croatia. It is a show cave, but only first 380 m are arranged for tourist visits (path, lights, multimedia, guides). Although this part is not known for the speleothems, there are many geological, geomorphological, paleontological and microclimatic features and processes that were researched and interpreted for the needs of tourist valorization trough a project with the support of the Medvednica Nature Park that manages the cave.
