Sažetak
The consequences of Ottoman Turkish conquests as well as their reign over these regions is the several centuries' long presence of the Turkish-Ottoman cultural substratum which has left its deep mark in the area of the Republic Croatia. The Turkish influence on the Croatian national culture was immense, which is visible in the handwork, clothes, food, housing and its equipment, village layout and especially the lexis. It is especially visible in the regions that endured a longer and more intense Islamic presence, i.e. the eastern part of the Pannonian Basin and the Dinarik Alps. The oriental influence is still very visible in the language, i.e. the lexis, which has remained regardless of whether we are aware of its Turkish etymology or not. These are the words such as bunar, sanduk, sokak, ćor-sokak, komšija, avlija, kapija, bašča, bunar, basamak, furuna, šegrt, dućan, ortak, ekser, torba, čizme, džep, pekmez...
