Sažetak
The most common material in the construction of buildings is a concrete reinforced with steel reinforcement. If reinforced concrete element was placed in aggressive environment, its deterioration due to corrosion of steel reinforcement will start soon. In the last few decades a lot of attention has been devoted to fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) as a replacement for steel reinforcement. The aim of this study is to experimentally and theoretically investigate the flexural behavior of concrete slabs reinforced with fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) bars. In this research, three types of experiments were made. First, the tensile properties of glass fiber reinforced polymer bars (GFRP) and steel bars were tested. Second, the bond-slip behavior between bars and concrete was tested on standard specimens. Third, two series of concrete slabs reinforced, one with GFRP bars and one with steel wired meshes were tested up to failure. The iterative numerical procedure for calculation of stresses and strains of concrete and FRP reinforcement in concrete element reinforced with FRP bars has been developed. The focus of this procedure was distribution of stresses and strains, between two adjacent cracks. This is important because strains of reinforcement and concrete are main parameters for calculation of curvature of cross section and therefore, for calculation of deflections of reinforced concrete elements (beams or slabs). The procedure included bond/slip behavior of reinforcement and formation of new crack(s) between initial ones. In the analysis the real bond/slip curve could be used, as well as idealized one. That procedure is used to calculate load/deflection curves of tested slab specimens. The theoretical results were compared to the test results of slab deflections. The load/deflection curves obtained by theoretical analysis showed good agreement with experimental ones until failure of slab specimens.
