Sažetak
The article analyzes the memory of Vukovar as an example of the contemporary creation of a heroic narrative by which national symbolism, cohesion of the community and collective memory are being shaped. The authors observe how the memory of the hero-city is actualized and perpetuated outside Vukovar, through the media and political discourse. The main focus is on commemorative practices related to the Remembrance Day of Sacrifice of Vukovar that take place in Zagreb.
