Sažetak
Plates and screws are routinely used as osteosynthetic implants for securing corrective osteotomies around knee joint. For more then ten years opening wedge callotasis using the Ilizarov method had gained popularity. This method allow gradual and exact correction of the mechanical axis and joint line, which can be readily checked radiologically during the procedure under weight bearing. Loss of the correction, which is sometimes seen when interal osteosynthesis was used, is easily avoided. During the time period between January 1989 to April 1999 correcrive osteotomy was performed in 61 patients using the external fixator. Special attention is given to several patients with complex osteotomy, in which both methods of fixation were used. Plates and screws were used for the osteotomy of the distal femur and Ilizarov external fixator was used for proximal tibia. Such combination allows exact positioning of the femur during the operation and perfect positioning of the tibia postoperatively by opening wedge callotasis which can be easily controlled rengenologically under weight bearing. Detailed operative procedure, as well as radiological an functional results are discussed in the paper.
