Sažetak
In todays economy, knowledge has become a factor of crucial importance for the company’s position in the market and its profitability. The fact that the most developed countries in the world today are the countries that have great investments in education and science, it can be said that knowledge has become the decisive factor of business success and competitive advantage of modern companies. Very important element of a new economy - a knowledge economy – are innovations while enterprises competitiveness can be measured by intellectual potential, by effective structuring through continuous innovation implementation. It is important to highlight that innovation is not a singular event, innovation is a process that must be managed, starting from the initial stage of the idea, to the final phase of successful implementation.This paper presents key factors influencing innovation strategies, both internal and external, and emphasizes the importance of innovation culture in the enterprise itself. As the main role in introducing and implementing innovations is considered to be the human resource management department that aims to regularly educate and motivate employees, regardless of business level. Also, internal and external factors that influence the shaping of organizational culture will be presented and the situation in the Republic of Croatia with regard to the presence of innovation and technological advancement in the domestic market will be analyzed.
