Sažetak
After the announcement of the Croatian Government's Protocol about the domestic violence victims and offenders treatment in September of the year 2005, the number of offenders sent by court sentence, treated in the hospital, suddenly increased about twenty times. From the beginning of the year 2005 till the end of 2007 more than 130 domestic violence offenders were in-patient treated in General Hospital Varaždin. In average the duration of the treatment was about 17 days. The authors also showed the sex, age, educational and professional status distribution as well as co-morbid mental disorders and head trauma history of the group members. The aim of investigation was also the compliance of the offenders in connection with the ambulatory visits, participation in the Club for Treated Alcoholics in Vara2din and number of relapses of violent behaviour. The follow-up confirms that in-patient alcohol dependence treatment in duration of three weeks in the group of domestic violence offenders has diagnostic as well as therapeutic efficacy and helps in the rehabilitation process by building of the comprehensive multidisciplinary oriented program.
