Sažetak
Bourgeois democracy that France used to ”free Europe”, existed in Dubrovnik long before. This presentation discusses the symbolism of freedom in Dubrovnik Republic at the time of its ending. Trying to answer the question whether freedom equals moderation, where there is no emphasis and highlighting. Is perfection in the middle way? This rhythm of beautiful monotony existed in the heart of Europe over 600 years. Class groups in the Dubrovnik Republikc depend upon one onother and so pervasive that it is impossible to survive without each other. Of course, every issue of freedom can not be considered without an analysis of the relationship in civil structures - aristocrats, servants, women, newcomers, travelers, foreigners, envoys, children, members of the church structure ... In Dubrovnik, moderation, peace, justice, composure, morality are high at price, while greed, extravagance and luxury, are strongly condemnd. Compassion is high and great, because consideration to the other being is great, but lacks of complete honesty. How hard can it be to stay in almost “Zen” middle way state, and how much it hampers with one’s nature and individual freedom? The question is how long can Utopia resist the trend of new and exciting, because the curiosity of the human soul is infinite as well as herself.
