Sažetak
Past research has identified that firms move through an evolutionary process in the development of pro-environment behavior. This evolutionary process is thought to be influenced by a number of factors that place pressure on the firm to become more proactive. Using past literature and interviews conducted with managers, we find support for a number of external factors that pressure firms to become more environmentally concerned with respect to their business activities. Although most companies were reactively responding to regulations, some very successful companies have moved ahead of regulations and are responding proactively to environmental challenges. More research is needed to determine the factors that separate these proactive firms from the reactive firms.
