Sažetak
This paper analyzes the role and importance of public media in the parliamentary election campaign on the example of Croatian radio – Radio Zadar in the city of Zadar in the Republic of Croatia. The aim of the paper was to investigate whether Croatian radio - Radio Zadar as a public radio station in the city of Zadar fulfilled the role and task of the public media in monitoring the parliamentary election campaign in the Republic of Croatia in 2015. The research was conducted in the period from October 23rd to November 6th, 2015. The body of research consisting of 135 news items was selected according to the criterion of monitoring the parliamentary election campaign. Through the method of qualitative and quantitative content analysis, the representation of political parties, the attitude of journalists and editors towards candidates and topics, and the representation of associations and state election commissions in the program with election topics in the news program of the Radio Zadar was investigated.
