Sažetak
In the pathogenesis of autoimmune disorders, the crucial question is how the tolerance to one or more self antigens fails in many people. The reason is yet mainly unknown. Most of the common autoimmune diseases also have an important inherited element, contributing as much as 50% of the population risk. The strongest contributions are made by particular haplocytes of the major histocompatibility complex (MHC) and specific HLA alleles within the MHC, whose products present antigen peptides to T cells. Various types of HLA alleles are present in various autoimmune disorders. Immunopathogenesis of various autoimmune disorders of the central and peripheral nervous system and some acquired myopathies as well as neurologic complications of systemic autoimmune diseases are presented. The specificity of the nervous tissue immune response is stressed in multiple sclerosis and briefly evaluated in similar autoimmune disorders of the central nervous system (CNS). Some autoimmune disoredrs of peripheral nervous system, neuromuscular junction, systemic autoimmune diseases, and paraneoplastic syndromes are also evaluated from the view of immunopathogenesis.
