Sažetak
Polycarboxylic acids are used as nonformaldehyde durable press finishing agents and maximum effects are obtained with butanetetracarboxylic acid and citric acid. In this research, instead of the usual curing process performed at very high temperatures, electromagnetic waves from microwave oven were used. The influence of EM waves on the efficiency of esterification was studied by FT-IR spectroscopy. Fabric resilience improved while the whiteness was not significantly lowered. Although this treatment has been tested only in laboratory jet, the results showed great promise for future applications in this field.
