Sažetak
When looking at Croatian-Slovak cultural relations through history, focussing primarily on the area of literature and theatre, we can see that the Slovaks were more active and "successful". The exception to this in the courseof history was the first half of the 1940s, when relations between the Independent State of Croatia and the Slovak Republic were intensive, and thus the reception of Slovak cultural events on the Croatian side was strong and sustained. An analysis of the reception of Slovak culture and Croatian-Slovak relations on the basis of the selected articles from the Crotian periodicals of the time shows to what degree the intensity of the mutual connection depended on the overall political, economic, and cultural circumstances.
