Sažetak
Many of problems regarding multiple sclerosis such as patogenesis, the role of immune system genetics disease classification, epidemiology, immunomodulatory treatment remain unanswered but develompment of various basic researches and clinical investigation encourage neurologist. The introduction of disease-modifying drugs may well turn out to be a sihnal event in the history of MS. A much longer follow-up is needed to properly evaluate their efficacy. It is unfortunate that some of the resources needed for more research in the fundamental aspets of the disease seem to have been diverted to therapeutic trials. Advances are being made and the climate is indeed an optimistic one.
