Sažetak
The earliest Neolithic Starčevo culture sites in northern Croatia show significant share of wild game in the faunal remains, including some less common such as tortoise and beaver, although the diet consisted predominantly of domesticated animals. The choice of settlement locations near the marshes or on the river banks and the settlement features, mostly pit-dwellings, further stress the connection with the natural food resources. With time, domesticated animals in the diet prevailed.
