Sažetak
What is traditionally called ‘the Humanities’ covers numerous disciplines, which do not only deal with different subject matters, but are characterized by different methodologies and different theoretical developments, especially in recent times. It is difficult, if at all possible, to subsume them under one heading, so examples will be given from disciplines such as linguistics and, more particularly, philosophy. Disciplines such as these can serve as illustrations in how they deal (in very different ways) with ‘trustworthiness’ of knowledge. However, the trend towards inter/multi/transdisciplinarity has put a different focus on the Humanities and their importance for articulating different kinds of ‘knowledges’. Following this line of reasoning, the understanding of ‘trustworthiness’ of the Humanities in research as well as institutional settings will be discussed. Namely, the Humanities have and are undergoing changes, some directed at creating trustworthy knowledge, but also at the same time facing challenges of the new era in research, for instance articulated through the ‘three Os’ (Open Innovation, Open Science, and Open to the World).
