Sažetak
Continuing population and consumption growth are driving global food demand, with agricultural activity increasing to keep pace. Value waste chain generates a significant amount of different agricultural waste, co-products and by-products (AWCB) that occur during three major steps of a complex path, from farm to plate. This paper presents steps where and how waste occurs during that path from ground to table for a period of 4 years, from 2010 to 2013 in the EU28. Taking into account specific condition of the EU28 community, four different sectors and waste that occur in those sectors are analysed: fruits, vegetables, animals and cereals. Numerical analysis and graphical presentations are made for each EU28 country and for each commodity from the above given sectors. The analysis consists of three steps of waste appearance: production (harvesting, farming), processing and consumption (raw, uncooked food). Methodology and calculations consist of relations between specific values. Those specific values for each commodity are production data, import and export data, and consumption of raw food by the inhabitants of a country. The production data was taken from the EUROSTAT, the import and export data were taken from the FAOSTAT. Total consumption of raw food per inhabitant is calculated from a specific consumption per capita and population.
