Sažetak
This paper aims to explore STEM (Science, technology, Engineering, Mathematics) interests of middle school children in the context of Holland's model of vocational interests. The participants were 627 pupils at the age of 13, equally distributed by gender. The results showed that boys expressed stronger STEM interests than girls, with the most pronounced differences in Engineering and Technology. The most of STEM interests fitted along the People- Things dimension, while Science interests inclined to the Ideas pole. We suggest career counselors to assess different STEM interests separately and to invest efforts in retaining girls in STEM providing genderresponsive career guidance.
