Sažetak
Global recognition of problem of plant invasive alien species (IAS) was increasing number of studies dealing with such invasions and caused increasing confusion about criteria and terminology used. In 2006 we started with national project about invasive Croatian flora and here we present both our approach to this problem and main results, as a part of possible future national strategy on invasive alien species. On the basis of regular terminology globally accepted in most botanical communities, and particularly harmonized with European standards for alien flora treatment, we prepared a proposal for national standards and criteria, as well as terminology, for both native (autochthonous) and alien (non-native, allochthonous) flora treatment. Furthermore, preliminary list of plant invasive alien species in Croatia was produced (65 taxa), based on literature and herbarium data and own field-researches as well. Criteria for status of plant species potentially invasive in Croatia were defined according to their origin, residence and invasion status. This data are incorporated within the special part of the Flora Croatica Database (http://hirc.botanic.hr/fcd/InvazivneVrste/Sear ch.aspx) and are available as standard taxon sheet for each taxon from preliminary list, with automatic generation of distribution maps. Adoption of the national criteria and standards for terminology and categories for alien flora by all experts, as well as our invasive alien plants black list, is first step in plant IAS studies and should be a good basis for future actions and measures against plant IAS in Croatia. For this purpose we suggest collaboration between all Croatian botanists and development of a national network on IAS.
