Sažetak
In the village of Plemenscina in the Northwestern Croatia older people still make a traditional wooden mangers, as they call it betlehem, betlem. The process of making mangers seems easy, however people consider it a rather strenuous, more psychological, work, because it involves ingenuity and the personal commitment. The making of mangers a month or two before Christmas was in the past time for socializing and making best of the long winter nights when there was less work to be done at the homestead. The results of the research of the making of the mangers in Plemenscina are in this work discussed from the aspect of folk piety, as well as the personal and social aspects of this tradition.
