Sažetak
This article points out the importance of digital transformation of enterprises and the economy as a whole. Technological-driven changes affect all industries and digital transformation is becoming a necessity for achieving global competitiveness. In the EU it is not sufficiently accepted that today's market requires digital business transformation and adaptation to the digital age. The aim of this article is to systematically present and explain the concept of a smart enterprise, analyze the characteristics, significance and benefits of smart enterprises, describe, analyze and show the results of the implementation of measures, strategies and programs adopted by the European Union to stimulate digital transformation and smart business development and digital economy.
