Sažetak
The aim of this paper is to highlight the potential for the development of tourism in Osijek-Baranja County, the importance and the role of marketing in tourism as well as the need for careful planning and implementation of marketing activities to facilitate the development of tourism. The paper gives an account of the present situation and proposes activities to be undertaken to facilitate that development. It describes the county’s tourist resources and potentials as well as the types of tourism that Osijek-Baranja County can offer. A brief overview is provided of the importance and the role of marketing in the development of tourism in the county area and draws conclusions based on the SWOT analysis of the county’s tourist potentials. It describes the marketing activities aimed at tourism development and gives suggestions on how to facilitate it. The conclusions of this paper underline the role of marketing in the development of tourism in Osijek-Baranja County area as well as the need for its careful planning and implementation.
