Sažetak
During the first half of the seventeenth century the church music in the Croatian litoral region of Dalmatia was almost entirely dedicated to the small-scale ensambles. At that time there were no conditions for the continuous activity of greater vocal instrumental ensembles consisting of paid professional musicians. In this essay an analysis of the small-scale motet by the two most important composers of the region is given. The opus musicum by tomaso Cecchini Veronese and Ivan Lukačić da Sebenico is not comparable in its dimensions: Cecchini signed at least 27 collections of sacred and secular music, while Lukačić published one single book of motets. nevertheless, one could find some similarities in their musical styles. Both composers have adapted their primary ideas to the modest and less demanding local perfoming capabilities in the Central Dalmatian cities of Split and Hvar. Developing musical simples formes they contributed to the diversity of Baroque music in Europe.
