Sažetak
Approximately 31% of youth age 15-24 in Bosnia and Herzegovina have just primary education since the high school education is not compulsory. This situation jeopardises development of Bosnia and Herzegovina, increases unemployment rate, increases number of social cases and directly contributes to the development of poverty rate in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The initiatives on introduction of compulsory high school education have been started but there are disparities in ability of cantonal and entity levels to financially support these changes. Therefore, other mechanisms have to be researched and developed. The improved inclusion of parents in primary schooling and their active participation through school activities and school boards should contribute to the quality of primary education performance and to increasing number of pupils that continue with high school education in Bosnia and Herzegovina. This study will address potentials and obstacles for parental inclusion in primary schools in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It will research strategies and policies that can be developed on the school level to improve parental participation. It will analyse the best approaches to work with parents to help them help their children in education process. Furthermore, this study will address the set of recommendations that will help establish successful policies that will improve parental participation in primary schooling.
