Sažetak
Croatia has for centuries been a zone of cultural contacts and exchages that have caused its prominent multiculturality. Its vast borderland territory was faced to frequent depopulation, repopulation and change of cultural groups and eventually leaded to the formation of distinct (regional) identities, based on the perception of dissimilarities and otherness. Employing the method of deconstructing the symbolic layer of historical maps enabled to trace the landscapes of (multiple) identities of the borderland in the early modern period.
