Sažetak
Vukovar is the city in the East Croatia on the board with Republic of Serbia. From the begining, Vukovar was multicultural, multiethnic and multiconfessional city thanks to migrations which were present since establiching of city in which Croats were majority. In this paper I'll try to show development of city, composition of population and relationships between ethnic groups from establiching of the city until the start of Homeland war in 1991. This paper will present history of Croat majority and minorities which were, and which are, present in the city of Vukovar: Germans, Hungarians, Serbs, Rusyns, Ukrainians, Yews and Slovacs. Croats came on this area in 7th century. First immigrations started in 8th century when Germans came from Frankish. After them, in 10th century, Hungarians started to come in this area. Because of large their incrasing number, in 18th century Germans and Hungarians had some benefits because this area was part of Habsbourg Monarchy, later Austro-Hungary. In the end of 1918 situation changed in Croatia. After WWI large number of Serbs immigrate into area of the city of Vukovar. Political situation gave them benefits and functions which earlier had Germans and Hungarians. They increase their benefits and gain power to rule the city. In 1939 Serbian domination weakened until 1941 when Croats took leader funktions in political and all other aspects. Croat supremacy was actual till autumn 1944 when Partisans took control in the city of Vukovar. From 1948 to 1991 situation were relative peacefull. In 1991 situation escalated because of Serbian nacionalism. Homeland war in Croatia started in 1991 and Serbian occupation took its part in the city of Vukovar. Siege of the city of Vukovar lasted for 3 months and in November it fall into the hands of Serbian nacionalists called Chetnics. In the period from 18 to 20 century a lot of migrations happened in the area of the city of Vukovar. Some ethnic groups came, but some of them were expelled from this area,
