Sažetak
Although franchising is present in Croatia from mid-1960-ties it is still in its early phase of development. In the first 30 years, there was only few franchising systems present due to economic and political system in former Yugoslavia. After Croatia became independent franchising started with bigger presence in Croatia but there is still room for further expansion especially with domestic franchise chains. Franchising in Croatia is growing but this growth is influenced by several important barriers that potential franchisor and/or franchisees need to prevail. To succeed franchising needs to have strong support especially from Croatian Franchising Association which currently does not have importance as it should have. Paper looks upon current situation of franchising in Croatia. It gives status on franchising (number of systems, number of locations, shares per industrial sectors) and gives short overview on research connected with franchising that was done in Croatia. Based on research it gives proposal how to increase importance of Croatian Franchising Association and expansion of franchising in Croatia (both franchisors and franchisees).
