Sažetak
With an increase in Internet access speeds and a growing popularity of devices capable of reproducing TV and video content, such as smartphones, tablets, gaming consoles and smart TVs, a market for OTT (Over-the-top) content has emerged. Basic functionality of an OTT system is video content transcoding and delivery of video content to end users. A transcoding system is a distributed system based on the Master-Worker principle that implements a priority based task scheduler. This master thesis tackles development of one such transcoding system. As this system was developed by the team of students, this thesis covers the system development from the communications standpoint – analysing means of communication, distributed transcoding architectures, protocols and technologies, choosing the ones most suitable and following the software development lifecycle consisting of request analysis, architectural design, detailed design, implementation and testing.
