Sažetak
Software-defined networking is a paradigm that introduce a different approach for network management in comparasion with traditional IP networks. In SDN, network is managed by central element, called controller. Control and data plane are separated, so network devices become simple packet forwarding devices, while control logic is implemented in controller. Via open interfaces, southbound interface for controller - network device communication, and northbound interface between controller and applications, SDN enables programmability of network by external applications. To achieve SDN principles, in this thesis Cisco’s APIC-EM controller is used. With northbound REST API, this controller enables various SDN applications to be running on it and brings many benefits. It provides single point for network control and wide automation, transforms business intent policies into dynamic network configuration and saves time, resources and costs. APIC-EM has a seven built- in applications: Device inventory, Host inventory, Topology, IWAN, Path Trace, Network plug and play and EasyQoS. EasyQoS application is used for define and manage quality of service in monitored network. After user identifies the set of network devices that are to enforce QoS (policy scope), it is necessary to specify the rules that prioritize traffic (QoS policy) and simply assign a policy to a scope. That is how static QoS is achieved. For dynamic QoS, which is primarily used in voice and video applications, controller receive an API request to create specific flow for two end devices, e.g. two IP phones. Requst can be sent from Cisco Unified Communications Manager when voice/video call is established/terminated. When that request is received, controller during the call set specific policy map on related interface (where is phone connected) that contains access list with corresponding instructions.
