Sažetak
Population movements in Croatia occurs through long-term trends of rural areas depopulation. In terms of agricultural population that means de-agrarisation and space devastation. A family farm in Croatia consists of a household, farm and connection agricultural activities. The future of "family" agriculture depends a lot of household potentials, because of socio-demographical reproduction. After the redraw of the "master" the potential successor on a farm can ensure its further existence, also the agricultural activities. For this paper research was made during on family farms in Istra County. The main criterion for this research is an existing potential successor on the farm. A poll-questionnaire on 130 family farms was made. The results of this research showed that future successors are mostly the sons of nowadays farmers. The successors are satisfied with agriculture as occupation. The main motivation for agricultural production is financial interest. Main development conditions are developed market infrastructure, product prices that ensure a satisfying income and long-term credits with acceptable terms. The farm transfer was obvious by sucsessors working on the farm and with finished agricultural education (only 5 % of the total succsesors. While the others expressed a positive view of taking over but they were employed off-farm or still in school so we cannot for sure claim successful farm transfer.
