Sažetak
The introduction of green chemistry principles into various industrial fields is becoming an imperative in the scientific community. There are numerous tools of green chemistry such as the use of alternative solvents, environmentally benign raw (or renewable) materials, use of alternative energy sources (e.g. microwaves, ultrasound) and performing reactions by (bio)catalysis. Due to a green character, natural deep eutectic solvents (NADES) are considered as new environmentally friendly solvents. NADES have been prepared from non- toxic, naturally derived, cheap and readily available components. Considering numerous variations and possibility of structural components, physicochemical properties of NADES could be designed for specific applications in organic synthesis, electrochemistry, biochemistry, biocatalysis, extraction of biologically active compounds, separation and analysis of various compounds. The aim of this study was the application of natural deep eutectic solvents (NADES) in (1) extraction of phenolic compounds from grape pomace coupled with alternative energy sources and (2) biocatalytic synthesis of interesting chiral intermediate (R)-1-phenylethanol by using immobilized Candida antarctica lipase B (CALB). According to results, using NADES as green solvents represents a good choice for eco- friendly extraction method for grape pomace anthocyanins and promising solvents for green biocatalysis.
