Sažetak
Rhodium (I) complexes of chiral monodentate amino acid or diamine ligands have been succesfully used as homogeneous catalysts for enantioselective hydrogenation reactions.1 In order to study these systems Pt(II) and Pd(II) complexes can be used as more stable model compounds for Rh(I) complexes which are prone to decomposition. Square planar Pt(II) and Pd(II) complexes of chiral amino acids were previously characterized and their cis- trans- isomerism was investigated by spectroscopy and computational methods.2 Herein we present the continuation of this work, extending the scope of characterized compounds to M = Pt(II), Pd(II) and Rh(I) complexes of chiral diamine ligands L = 1 , 2. Complexes [ML2Cl2] were characterized by various spectrospic methods (1H, 13C, 31P NMR, UV, CD and IR in solid state and solution). In solution Pt(II) complexes exibit 31P NMR shifts that are characteristic for cis- complexes almost exclusively while Pd(II) complexes show a mixture of cis- and trans- complexes with a large preference for the trans- isomer. Preliminary spectroscopic measurements show evidence of intramolecular hydrogen bonding in cis- compounds.
