Sažetak
We discuss the role of nonlinear phonons in the Eliashberg formalism. This consideration is suggested in HTC layered materials: for example, in YBa_2Cu_3O_{;7-delta}; the nonlinearity may be induced by O(4) c-axis dynamics, which is highly anharmonic according to recent EXAFS measurements. This leads to a dynamic Jahn-Teller-like mechanism augmenting any purely in-plane mechanisms. We use a double well nonlinearity to show that T_c can be substantially raised by the anharmonicity but only in intermediate anharmonicity regimes.
