Sažetak
The basic problems in developing health information systems for health centers, organized as institutions providing medical services in the primary health care via a network of distributed health stations, are explored and the design principles of such systems are proposed. A health center information system should be of a distributed type, with a central database for administrative purposes and several distributed medical databases. A computer network, consisting of a central system (supermicro or mini) and a number of microsystems, provides a feasible solution allowing stepwise development of the information system in accordance with the economic constraints of the primary health care environment.
