Sažetak
This master’s thesis contains general information about empirical methods for calculating maximum river discharge, and the reasons for their use. Eight empirical methods are selected for the purpose of this paper, and they are all explained and shown in the first part of the thesis. For the case study the catchment area located near the city of Brno in Czech Republic is chosen. Three catchment areas of the river Kyjovka tributaries are selected to perform calculations, and they are described along with their hydrological parameters. Each of the selected catchment area has its own characteristics, so it can be visible how well the selected methods adapt to different environment. Calculation process for every method and each catchment area have been shown, so that results can be easily understandable. Final method results and their comparison are presented in graphic form with visible differences. Results are discussed based on catchment area characteristics and parameters that each method requires. Based on this, some methods are marked inappropriate, while others can present more accurate estimation of the river discharge calculation.
