Sažetak
Rapid development of informatics in the last years has been reflected in a wide use of computing methods in medicine. There is an urgent need for educating health workers in informatics. In 1966 the Andrija Štampar School of Public Health introduced the first lectures on computing into postgraduate courses. In 1970/71 the subject '''Use of Computers in Medicine" was added to the curricula of the Medical Faculty as an obligatory subject for undergraduate medical students. The establishment of the University Computing Center in Zagreb created an important technical basis for a further promotion of education in medical computing. The installation of terminals in the "Zagreb-North" group allowed the beginning of practical teaching for medical students and health workers. The development of education in medical computing and respective plans and programs at the Medical Faculty in Zagreb are reviewed.
