Sažetak
In knowledge-based societies, scientific research is the basic deter¬minant of economic growth and prosperity. It greatly depends on the availability of adequate funding. The funding for research has become more difficult to access. It is especially pronounced in developing countries and fresh EU-member states as Croatia. By applying the design thinking approach tied-up with the stakeholder mapping among a part of Croatian scientific community, and the relevant theoretical (and statistical) framework, the present thesis discusses the potential strategies for improving research funding prospects in the context of Croatian universities (primarily University of Zagreb, Faculty of Science). The strategy makers could lean on the overall OECD recommendations targeted towards an improvement of Croatian innovation policy (OECD 2014), and strategically reduce the negative and increase the positive influ-ences on the potentially powerful stakeholders identified within this thesis.
