Sažetak
According to the concept of hierotopy, in creation of sacred spaces as a special form of human creativity, special attention, besides the physical items, is given to reinterpretation of the existing words and recollections, that is, to the modelling of space by words-images. The concept itself is not limited only to the realm of spiritual, but is also comparatively clearly visible in mundane matters. Accordingly, the paper will examine the connection of mogila in Maksimir Park in Zagreb with the narrative of “heroic history”, especially one regarding the Middle Ages. Furthermore, with the aim of understanding durability of mogila as a hierotopic project, and comparing the present knowledge of the Croatian medieval studies with the words-images regarding mogila, the paper will emphasize the link between sacred space (of the nation) and uses of the past.
