Sažetak
This paper presents the Solver-Q, a general purpose symbolically assisted numeric computation envi-ronment. Although the approach in this paper is general, the applications are restricted to specific problems derived from electric power system engineering simulation prob-lems. The concept and features of a general-purpose solver are described. Five case-studies are presented: the power flow problem, the economic dispatch problem, point of collapse, eigenvalue computation and time-domain simula-tion problem by implicit method of integration. The gen-eral purpose solver exhibits characteristics that make it very suitable as an engineering educational and research tool on its own right. All case-studies included in the paper are fundamental problems in area of power system engi-neering education and research, as well as solving practical problems a real-life power system everyday operation and control.
