Sažetak
The paper presents the results of an analysis of the ferrous product separated from caustic solution during combined extraction-reextraction investigations as one of the steps in the course of a complex red mud processing. The qualitative phase analysis of the ferrous product shows that its main component is iron (III) oxide hydroxide phase mixture with more of alpha-FeO(OH). Secondary electron micrographs show that the product contains spheroid and stick-shaped aggregates. However, X-ray area scans show that iron is mainly distributed in spheroid aggregates. A quantitative chemical composition of ferrous product was obtained on the base of an atomic absorption analysis.
