Sažetak
Violence today represents a social, that is, a public health problem which ius marked by a rising trend in domestic violence. Both legal regulation punishing domestic violence and the role tje police have taken helped bring to light the problem of domestic violence. On of the risk factors is the abuser alcoholism. Therefore, the purpose of this work is to test whether a fifference exists in the number and kinds of punisable acts coommitted ba trhe offender who were twstwd committed acts of domestic violence puniisable by law during the years 2002 through 2007 and who have punishable offenses registered against them with the Split Dalmatian police admministrative officers. The results show that trreere are a greater number of offenders under the influence of alcohol comparedto the total number of domestic violence offenders. The resulst also show that the domestic violence offenders more frequently commit uther punishable offenses, especially bodily injuries and life threating injuries, as well as offenses of aperverse sexual nature. The collected data supports the need for preventive programs, effectiive protective intervention and treatment for the violent offender.
