Sažetak
The paper represents the results of experimental investigation on leaching of kaolin obtained from flotation tailings of the Copper Mine Bor (Yugoslavia), in order to produce alumina. Leaching is carried out by means of sulphuric, nitric and hydrochloric acids. As optimum acid concentrations, 30% for sulphuric acid, 10% for nitric acid and 5% for hydrochloric acid were defined. With these concentrations, the leaching efficiency of alumina as a function of time at different temperatures, from ambient to boiling point temperature, was determined. In all cases the kinetics of alumina leaching was studied, and the kinetic parameters for the process were discussed.
