Sažetak
This paper reports on the findings of a study of the influence of UNESCO on the cultural tourism through maintenance of the cultural heritage. Main research was primary Internet research of the relevant documents, conventions, charters etc. on the UNESCO and specialized organizations and institutions web sites. Key findings are: UNESCO influence on the cultural tourism through maintenance of the cultural heritage on various ways and the most significant ones are: World Heritage List, projects for maintenance of he cultural heritage and projects of the cultural routes. Enlisted on the WHL represents the most important cultural valuation and the financial and professional help by UNESCO. The research of the scientific touristic literature shows that some studies have been done about quantitative values of being on the WHL list (number of visitors, tourist consumption and receipts). The qualitative side (motivations, satisfaction, experience of visit) haven’t been done. All UNESCO projects are focused on the maintenance of the cultural site, decrease of poverty and imbalance of the regions
