Sažetak
The research at the KPg boundary was resumed after 1980 following the publication of increased iridium(Ir) contents in deep sea environment atthe KT boundary in the Gubbio profile. In 1982, higher Ir and isotope anomaly (-8 δ13CPDB) within thin beds of peritidal lagoonal environment interrupted with hiatuses were established at Dolenja Vas (DV). Research continued in profiles Padriciano1, 2, Basovizza, Sopada, and Vremski Britof (TEWARIet al., 2007).The DVprofiles, 2–5mthick, marked also by a mercury (Hg) anomaly, are commented as evidence of intensive volcanism (PALINKAŠ et al., 1996). Paleomagnetic analyses indicateCW rotation of 28°in the Ch 29R zone.Stromatolites were recorded onthe Danian limestones. Interval could be estimated in a time span of 40–200kyr. Sphaerules found at Padricianowere interpreted as a proof of a meteorite impact. Foraminifera, R. liburnica andFleuryana adriatica were recognized in Maastrichtian. In the initial sedimentation KPg, algae were the most effective, comprising Decastroporella tergestinaand the Mexicanspecies Acroporella chiapasensis (dasycladaceas), Drobnella slovenica (algae incerte sedis), and Decastronema barattoloi(cyanobacteria), and among foraminifersBangiana hanseni.Parts of these features were confirmed also in the Sjekoše profile in Herzegovina (DROBNEetal., 2009). KORBARet al. (2017) discovered a direct K to Pg passageon the Hvar and Brač Islands, with 2 cm thick layers of red-brown clay(tzunamite).Planktonic foraminifera, shock quartz, high contents of Kfeldspars, pyroxeneand elevated PGE »in chondritic proportions« indicate a link to the Chicxulub asteroid impact. Recently, the paper by SIAL et al. (2016) pointed out the use of Hg as a volcanism proxy by studying four distal and two proximal sections in relation to the Deccan volcanic center, straddling the KPg boundary. Besides India (Maghalaya, Jhilmili), it was also studied in Højerup (Denmark), Bottaccione and Padriciano (Italy), Bajada del Jagüel (Argentina), andDolenja Vas (Slovenia).
