Sažetak
The Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences, University of Zagreb, Vukovar-Srijem County, Faculty of Economics, University of Osijek and Faculty of Civil Engineering University of Zagreb under the auspices of the Ministry of the Sea, Tourism, Transportation and Development, organized the second scientific conference Ports and Waterways – POWA 2007 entitled "Inland waterway transport interoperability within European transport system", which took place on 5-6 October 2007. Ports and waterways development is undergoing significant changes in response to the world’s changing conditions. The objectives of this conference is to discuss the management, operation and planning of ports and waterways, with special emphasis on the new areas of research. It is essential for the industry that new technologies are incorporated into a better concept of ports and waterways development and management to improve their competitiveness. The conference provides a forum for discussion and exchange of ideas, methods, and knowledge between managers, operators, designers and the scientific and academic communities. POWA 2007 is largely supported by the Croatian academic, economic and port communities. The authors of contributions are experts and practitioners from faculties, institutes, colleges and transport studies, from transport economy, from the port authorities, municipal authorities for traffic, logistics operators and business people. The papers and presentations are focused on the port management, intermodal transport system, port security, intelligent transportation systems, legal issues and port and land transport, significance of traffic corridors in the development of economy and efficiency of interconnecting natural potentials of Eastern Croatia with the compatible social and economic subjects of Europe.
