Sažetak
Personal computers are increasingly used for data acquisition and analysis. Frequently, one would like to carry out acquisition and analysis simultaneously. Such multitasking operating systems are commercially available for the medium- priced 16-bit computers (eg, IBM-PC) but, to the author's knowledge, not for the low- priced 8-bit computers. We have developed a multitasking extension to the operating system of the computer based on the Z80A CPU, the Sinclair ZX Spectrum 48K. The extension is made by defining a new interrupt routine which is vectored within the interrupt mode 2 of the Z80A. Combined with hardware and software to support both the IEEE- 488 interface standard and a custom-relay interface, this extension can control experiments which need to be serviced at rates up to the interrupt frequency (50 Hz), simultaneously with the execution of the data- analysis program.
