Sažetak
In the introductory part of this paper we observe the Old Slavic symbolism of the soul, and then the Southern Slavic folklore conceptions of the Soul-Bird and the Bird-Soul. In other words, in the Soul-Animal and/or Soul-Bird concept, an animal (a bird) is in question that figures as the co-existent double of a human being (cf. “Soul-Animal or Soul-Bird” 1950:1051). On the other hand, however, the concept of the Bird-Soul denotes the post-mortal soul in the form of a bird (cf. “Bird-Soul” 1949:143).
