Sažetak
The most significant estates of the Count family Eltz included Vukovar in Croatia, and both Etlville and Burg Eltz in Germany. The Burg Eltz had been under construction since the Romanesque until the period of Historicism, while today it is perceived as one of the most well-known parts of German cultural heritage as well as a very popular destination boasting many rich museum collections which preserve the family memory. The museum's permanent exhibition features the so-called Vukovar room, and the interior is decorated with many details reminding us of those responsible for its most significant restoration, Karl Eltz and his wife Ludvina (neé Pejačević). Apart from this, they are also responsible for the historicist-style restoration of the Vukovar castle, which has kept its appearance since the end of the 19th century. This includes the family's double coat of arms prominently situated on its facade. It is interesting to compare the way in which the history of the Eltz family is kept in the museological practice of Castle Eltz and how the Vukovar estate is presented in the Burg Eltz museum. The collections upon which these depictions depend are complementary while also being related in terms of art and history, therefore presenting the opportunity for an inter-museum and international cooperation project.
