Sažetak
The article begins with the broadly accepted attitude in literary history that Baraković's Vila Slovinka is composed of two basic parts, subsequently composed in a single book that thematically combines the travels/wanderings of the poet Baraković. The content interpolations and supplements to the poem are being explained by the poet’s dissatisfaction with the reception of the original work. This resulted in abandoning the writing of panegyrics to former fellow citizens and changes at the narrative level: new poet’s focalizers and informants had been introduced ; the events described were no longer historical ones but contemporary to the poet, while they also encompassed conventional lyric episodes, oniric scenes and characters. The private troubles of the poet are the initiator of events and wanderings on the level of events, while on the ideological level these serve as an initial framework for the introduction of exalted virtues as those to be inherited and its opposites as those which must be avoided. Furthermore, the introduction of irony to the panegyric and the use of clichés in love and pastoral poetry of the early modern period are part of the novelties that turned the humanist panegyric into a post-Tridentine pilgrimatic poem in its second part. The analysis of the poetic changes is accompanied by thematological interpretations when the content of enigmatic lacunas, understanding of which might be hindered to the contemporary reader by the past centuries, is easier understood by the deconstruction of literary processes.
