Sažetak
The article offers a reflection on the end of Yugoslav socialism by way of a reading of Stipe Grgas's more recent work. Relying on Grgas's claim that the U.S. presence in former Yugoslavia reflects the mutations of American capitalism, the author comments on the ways in which the experience of socialism's demise was registered in the culture of the Yugoslav 1980s up to 1991. Arguing that the existing approaches to this period favor the experience of the elites, the author stresses the need for more expansive archival work and consideration of the class aspect of the end of socialism.
